What is a photorejuvenation?

Non-Ablative Laser

Allows to make cosmetic improvements quickly, conveniently, non-invasive with very little risk or discomfort.

Non-ablative lasers target only the dermatis, leaving the epidermis intact and are far less invasive than ablative treatments.

The results are not as effective as with ablative laser resurfacing but the excellent safety profile and rapid recovery post-treatment have made these systems are popular.

They work by heating up the targeted tissue, without actually destroying it. This process stimulates your body’s collagen production to fill in unwanted skin imperfections such as fine lines or wrinkles.

Because they do not resurface the skin as invasively as ablative lasers, multiple treatment (1 to 8 ) sessions will be necessary to achieve modest clinical results. However, patients benefit from almost no downtime and the risk of undesirable side effects is greatly reduced.

Ablative laser

Allows to deal with more serios skin problems, longer recovery time, more invasive, but the best results achievement.

Ablative lasers such as CO2 are more invasive with the best clinical results.

They work by vaporizing the outer layers of the skin. This process causes the skin to heal and restructure, and increases collagen production.

Ablative lasers are great for treating visible signs of aging and the results generally last for 1 to 5 years.

It is important to note however, that ablative lasers present a longer recovery and a higher degree of risk than non-ablative lasers. Most patients require 1 to 2 weeks of recovery time.

Photorejuvenation is a skin treatment that uses lasers, intense pulsed light, to treat skin conditions and remove effects of photoaging such as wrinkles, spots, and textures.

The process induces controlled wounds on the skin, prompting it to heal itself by creating new cells. This process reverses the signs of photoaging to a certain extent by removing appearances of damage.

Who is suitable for photorejuvenation?

People with facial wrinkles and sun-damaged skin can all benefit from laser resurfacing. Those who are concerned about the risks of complications, and who wish to avoid long recovery times are the best candidates for non-ablative laser resurfacing. However, they must understand that results may not be as effective as ablative resurfacing.

All wrinkles are reduced, but those caused by the sun, especially those around the eyes and lips respond best.

It is never too late - or too early - to treat wrinkles once they are established. Acne scars and facial scars from surgery or trauma may be reduced but very deep scars cannot be completely removed. Many benign skin growths and scaly patches on the face and elsewhere are removed with ease.

Dark skinned and tanned patients may experience some dyspigmentation of the skin after treatment with non-ablative laser therapy. A test spot should be performed in these patients and they should avoid direct sunlight and use sunscreens after treatments.
